Genny was born in the Eastern Cape town of Cradock. In 1985 she began
her first year of study at the University of Port Elizabeth (now Nelson
Mandela Metropolitan University). She served her articles under Maurice
Shefer from 1989 to 1990 and went on to work for the firm Shefer Pretorius
Shear & Van Rooy for 2 years as Professional Assistant in various
sectors of the profession including: deceased estates, collections/recoveries,
High Court litigation, property law and criminal law.
In 1993 Genny joined McWilliams & Elliott Inc as a professional
assistant and served as Director and head of the Property division from
2000 to 2005.
Genny heads up the property portfolio at Joubert Galpin Searle and her
specialisation is in property law and notarial work. She plans to obtain
her Higher Diploma in Tax and has been appointed as a Sectional Title
Arbitrator.
Genny is a registered trainer with Poslec Seta and has lectured at the
Night School UPE; for the Law Society in Conveyancing; as well as NMMU
in Notarial Practice.
Genny is an EP and EP Vets tennis player as well as an advanced open
water scuba diver, she plays golf and enjoys running. Genny is a great
animal lover and the owner of a Great Dane.
