International Trade
1.18
The relaxation of traditional barriers to trade, financial and information flows is doing much to consolidate the efforts of the international business community and fuel commercial opportunities around the world. However, international commercial practice is still subject to a myriad of rules and regulations - traded goods need to confirm to different countries specifications, and quality and environmental standards, buyers and sellers (and their agents in the logistics chain) are bound by behavioural norms, and payment is often mired in documentary requirements. Despite the regulated nature of international trade, there is no one body of rules which defines the legal parameters, obligations and restraints applicable to international transaction. An in-depth understanding of international trade law is necessary to advise on the structuring of international trade agreements.
