Registration of credit providers well in place 3 Oct 2006
By now, companies who supply credit to the public should have registered with the National Credit Regulator under the National Credit Act - the deadline for doing so was 1 June 2006. The next deadline is one year hence and companies have until 1 June 2007 to fully comply with the provisions of the National Credit Act.

BayFM to take on ICASA’s decision to suspend their licence in the Johannesburg High Court 22 Feb 2006
Business law firm Joubert Galpin Searle, acting on behalf of Port Elizabeth community radio station BayFM, will begin Review proceedings in early February to ensure BayFM’s right to stay on the air. The legal procedure involves reviewing the reasons for termination of the broadcasting licence supplied by ICASA (Independent Communications Authority of South Africa) in the Johannesburg High Court. In the meantime, the radio station has begun a telethon to raise funds.

The recent birth of my second child lead me to think about what would happen to my two boys if I were to die, who would get what from my limited estate and who would look after them if my husband and I died together. My situation was slightly more complicated by the fact that my first son has a different father and although he views my husband as his dad, my husband has never legally adopted him. This means that if we both should die, none of my husband’s estate would be left to my older son unless my husband had stipulated this in his will.
