Leon matriculated at Framesby High School in Port Elizabeth and went on to graduate from the University of Port Elizabeth (now Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University) with a B.Juris in 1993 and a LL.B in 1995.
After completing his articles in Port Elizabeth, he was employed as a legal advisor with a Trade Union, which inspired an interest in Labour Law and him obtaining a LLM in this field from the then University of Port Elizabeth. Leon also practiced in the fields of civil- and criminal litigation before joining Joubert Galpin Searle in June 2003. Leon was admitted as an attorney in 1998.
Leon specialises in all aspects of employment law and mainly acts for employers in the private, public and local government sector. He has extensive experience in dealing with labour disputes (individual labour law and collective bargaining) and represents clients at various labour forums. He also provides training to clients on a regular basis.
Leon and his wife, Ellen, also a practicing attorney, are both focused on building their respective careers and have two children, Stephney and Chris.
